It’s here again…testing day. For the third and fifth graders it’s the first of three chances to pass the reading test. For my fourth graders it’s the writing test, but they only get one shot.
For the most part I’m not too worried. I’ve got a few really good writers who could pass this test in their sleep, (but let’s hope they don’t try that) a bunch of kids who can concentrate and do well, and a couple who need some extra prayers.
If you know any TAKS day prayers, say one for my class today.

Father? Kids are taking tests today that they would rather not take. Help the clever ones find a way to stay out of trouble after they finish the test and are bored beyond belief. Calm the ones who can pass but aren't quite sure. For the ones who know they won't pass...ever...let them learn employers never ask what you made on your grade three ELA.
Thank you for teachers who would rather be teaching than testing and testing and testing and...well, you know. I bet you hate these tests as much as the rest of us. Teach us that it is what you learn not what you answer that really matters.
Please?

PastorBlueJeans,
What a perfectly wonderful prayer!
You said, "Teach us that it is what you learn, not what you answer that really matters."
Words to live by...thanks for the prayer, it made all the difference.
